Amy began her harp studies on a lever harp at the age of 10, transitioning to a pedal harp a year later. She is currently studying for a degree in harp performance with Elzbieta Szmyt, Chair of the harp department at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. During her freshman year, Amy was principal harp for the Jacobs School of Music Wind Ensemble, and for the past 2 years she has been performing with the IU Philharmonic, Concert, Symphony, University and Chamber Orchestras. Amy is very grateful and honored to be the recipient of the Premier Young Artist Award, which is making it possible for her to pursue her dream.
Amy was a member of the Knoxville Symphony Youth Orchestra for 5 years and was principal harpist for the last 2 years. She was also the principal harpist with the University of Tennessee Symphony Orchestra and the University of Tennessee Chamber Orchestra for the 2021-2022 academic year. Amy has played with the UT Wind Ensemble, Appalachia: A Southeastern Wind Symphony, the Scruffy City Orchestra and the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra, including performances of The Nutcracker. She was invited to the ETSBOA All State East Senior Clinic, the TMEA All State Orchestra, and was an orchestra member for the WordPlayers' 2021 production of The Fantasticks. In 2021 she made some studio recordings as part of the album, In This Weary Land, by Emily McCoy. As a solo performer, Amy has played at dozens of venues across Tennessee and southern Indiana.
Amy is passionate about the harp and works hard to prepare for each event or performance. She would love to help create a beautiful atmosphere for your special occasion.
